Education Brief Library: Tools for leaders building sustainable communities
When communities are making decisions that shape housing, land use, public health, and long-term growth, clarity matters. The Vision West ND Education Brief Library is a tool to support community leaders across western North Dakota with short, plain language resources that make complex topics easier to understand and discuss.

What is available now
Three briefs are currently available on the website.
The first provides an overview of CO2 pipelines and sequestration in North Dakota. It outlines key considerations for communities and describes the types of decisions and coordination that can involve local governance, planning, and public safety.
The second explains the farmer’s share of the food dollar and why higher grocery prices do not always translate into higher farm income. It offers a practical context for anyone thinking about rural economic stability and the future of local agriculture.
The third focuses on mental health challenges in agriculture, naming common stressors and barriers to seeking support. It highlights practical ways communities can strengthen support systems that feel safe, discreet, and rooted in trust.
How this supports the regional plan
These briefs support the kind of informed, solutions-focused work that Vision West ND committees are advancing through the Regional Plan Update for 2026 to 2028. As committees continue priority-area initiatives, this library will grow with additional resources aligned with the questions communities are facing.
Join a committee and help guide what comes next
If you care about building sustainable communities and improving the quality of life across western North Dakota, consider joining a Vision West ND committee. Membership is not required. Committee members help identify topics, shape education efforts, and support practical regional collaboration.
Read the briefs, share them with your colleagues, and if you want to help guide future topics, join a committee.
