Planning and Zoning

The Planning and Zoning Committee was created as a subcommittee of the Vision West ND Community Planning and Development Committee for the purpose of working with the Vision West ND Board of Directors, consortium, and administration. The committee brings together local officials, planners, developers, engineers, and community partners to strengthen planning and zoning practices through education, collaboration, and the sharing of practical resources that support long term community resilience.

Scope and Key Objectives

• Advise Vision West ND on planning and zoning issues, trends, and emerging challenges affecting communities across western North Dakota

• Promote education and information sharing that helps local leaders make informed planning and land use decisions

• Support the development of educational resources, workshops, and tools that strengthen local planning capacity and encourage regional collaboration

• Provide guidance on initiatives, research, and partnerships that help communities plan for responsible growth while balancing housing, infrastructure, transportation, economic development, and quality of life.
