Adams County's plan week took place June 21-22 in Hettinger, ND. Karalea Cox, a plan facilitator for Building Communities, led the steering committee through the planning program and identified eleven economic development strategies that local residents felt could be implemented within the county. Those strategies included value added agriculture, business retention/expansion, entrepreneurial development, downtown development, energy development, infrastructure development, a plethora of tourism strategies, health care expansion, transportation distribution, education development, and "leading edge" development.
Quality of life initiatives that the Adams County steering committee identified for future work were child care, retaining area youth, aiding the area's retiring workforce and utilizing their skills, housing needs, and establishing a truck stop and fuel station on US Highway 12.
