WATFORD CITY EXPRESS PLAN WEEK KICKED OFF FEBRUARY 29TH

The Vision West ND project, which covers the nineteen oil and gas producing counties in western North Dakota, is kicked off its first Express Plan Week in Watford City on February 29th. Watford City residents recently completed a survey to gain insight on business and services. The Express Plan Week event tool planning to the next level.

Express Plan Week led by Vision West ND consultant, Building Communities, took place within a two-day time period. A steering committee of approximately ten community leaders were assembled as a part of the Express Plan Week. The two day strategic planning session covered everything from identifying the strategies most likely to succeed in Watford City to selection of the strategies to assigning roles and deadlines and creating an action plan to move the strategies forward.

The Watford City community was invited to participate in the Express Plan Week process at a public meeting scheduled on Wednesday, February 29th from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Civic Center.

This type of Plan Week will be held in approximately 20 locations all over western North Dakota over the next year. Through this process, the primary goals of the project are to assist communities and counties in the western region of North Dakota in addressing immediate, short-term needs to meet growth management challenges and establish a diversified economy in the future through the development of local and regional strategic plans. The resulting plan will set the stage for economic diversification based on the strength of the oil and agriculture industries and will incorporate and support livability and environmental objectives which speak to the social issues of the region.
