Shale Webinar Series
The goal of this webinar series is to extend projections of drilling, employment, and population from two credible sources to the oil-producing counties of western North Dakota.
Lynn Helms of the ND Department of Mineral Resources and by Nancy Hodur and Dean Bangsund of North Dakota State University created the state and county level models.
The Helms model relies on well and rig count data provided to the state, and on estimates of employment per well developed with industry assistance, combined with Helms’ knowledge of the geologic oil-bearing capacity of the Bakken and related formations.The NDSU model is an extension and refinement of the Helms model and relies on the same projections of well-drilling and rig counts.
